Babymoon: A trip taken before a baby is born giving the couple a chance to reconnect and relax before entering into parenthood.
Whilst still a relatively new phrase, Babymooning is definitely on the up, and no matter what the reason, everyone loves a trip right? No matter how big or small it really is worth it to spend some time with your loved one, just the two of you to get away from thinking about strollers, decorating and the demands of everyday life.
So where do you start with planning your babymoon?
First of all think about when in your pregnancy you would like to go. The second trimester is recommended as the ideal time to babymoon, you may be feeling more energetic and hopefully your bump won’t be too big to make you super tired. Also – lots of airlines won’t let you travel past 30 weeks so be sure to check this.
Next you need to think about location – being on a plane for a long time can be tough on your pregnant body therefore try to avoid flights that are no longer than 3-4 hours. Destinations in Europe such as Italy and France are absolutely beautiful – if you would like some real babymoon envy be sure to read all about Lauren's Babymoon in Italy here.
Staying comfortable on holiday is so important when you’re pregnant and packing sensibly will make a real difference. Flat shoes are a must especially if you want to do some exploring whilst you’re away, and loose maxi dresses are also great as they will keep you feeling glam but comfortable at the same time!
As the main aim of the holiday is to relax, a quiet locale place is perfect; this will be less busy than some tourist destinations and will have lots of delicious traditional foods for you to sample! Remember to take regular breaks when away, your holiday is the perfect time to rest so don’t try and do too much!
Last but not least remember to enjoy yourself, although you’re saying goodbye to life as just two, you are about to enter in to the most amazing chapter. Take this time to get excited about what’s ahead and truly appreciate the moment with your loved one.
