What is the difference between YOYO3 and YOYO2 stroller?

Posted by Michal on 13th Aug 2024

Last week, the new Stokke® Yoyo³ stroller was launched worldwide. In comparison to the previous generations, well known as Babyzen Yoyo®, this new version was released under the Stokke® brand. But is it just about rebranding, or does the new Yoyo³ have something more to offer than its predecessor? Let's find out!

Weight and dimensions:

Both Stokke® Yoyo³ and Babyzen Yoyo² are super lightweight and fold in seconds to super compact, cabin-approved dimensions - there is no change in that regard. Both stroller frames weight just 5.1 kg and feature the same open and folded dimensions. It seems that the Stokke® engineers decided that the winning design should not be changed. That's why, besides some cosmetic improvements and a slightly wider handlebar, the Yoyo frame with its unique folding system remains unchanged.

Wheels and suspension:

At first glance, the Yoyo³ wheels look the same as in the previous version, but the first difference can be seen in the dark. The Stokke® Yoyo³ have reflective wheel trims, which make the stroller more visible in lower light conditions. Like in the previous model, the Yoyo³ stroller is equipped with the Soft Drive system on the front wheels, but it comes with improved shock absorbers on all wheels.

Seat unit with safety harness:

In comparison to the previous versions, the Stokke® Yoyo³ features a perforated seat base and backrest for increased air circulation.

The backrest height has also been increased by 2 inches to improve seating comfort and create extra space for a 4th shoulder strap height position. This means the Yoyo³ can fit taller children better and longer, even though the permissible weight of the child remains the same (22 kg). The harness itself has been equipped with a new 5-point safety buckle with air mesh chest pads.

New 6+ Colour Pack:

The Stokke® Yoyo 6+ Colour Pack comes with a couple of changes in comparison to the Babyzen product. The first noticeable change is a larger, more extendable sun hood. In comparison to previous model, it offers better shelter from the harmful sun rays, featuring UPF50+ protective coating as well.

At the back, we can find an air-mesh and closable peekaboo window, which gives parents the opportunity to not only keep an eye on their baby but also increase airflow for the little one.

Another important change in the colour pack seat is the presence of a special support cushion in the head and neck area.

New 0+ Newborn Pack:

As with the colour pack, the Stokke® Yoyo 0+ Colour Pack accessory offers an extendable sun canopy with additional ventilation at the back and comes with a new safety harness too.

Shopping basket:

Since the release of the first generation, the Babyzen Yoyo® featured a shopping basket with a maximum load of just 5 kg, which was quite understandable for such a compact stroller. Stokke® met the growing needs of parents by making the Yoyo³ shopping basket with a 10 kg maximum load, which is a significant improvement.

Accessories:

Except for the brand tags, the Stokke® YOYO and Babyzen® YOYO accessories are the same and can be used with both Yoyo² and Yoyo³ strollers. This is a good money-saving opportunity for some customers, as they may buy discontinued and reduced-price Babyzen YOYO accessories for their new Stokke® Yoyo³ stroller. The only exception is the Yoyo² handlebar replacement part, which is not compatible with the Yoyo³ version.

Colour variants:

Another thing that has not changed is the availability of colour variants. The new Stokke® Yoyo³ comes in the same stylish colour palette known from the previous model. This includes 2 frame colours: White and Black, plus 8 fabric tones: Aqua, Black, Toffee, Taupe, Ginger, Olive, Stone, and Air France Blue/Navy.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, the Stokke® Yoyo³ stroller is not just a rebranded product created for marketing purposes. The stroller offers many new and useful features that may appeal to more demanding customers.
