In 1989, Norwegian manufacturer BeSafe developed their first rear facing child car seat. Ever since, their goal has been to make rear facing car seats just as comfortable as forward facing ones were seen as, but to give children the extra safety on top. BeSafe has gathered lots of experience and insights and has been improving their products continuously.
An all-time favourite and repeated test winner
In 2013, BeSafe launched a rear facing seat that quickly became popular across many countries – the iZi Plus. This all-time favourite is truly optimized for rear facing safety up to an age of approx. 5 years and it fits into many cars, as it does not require ISOfix.
Several test institutes have confirmed both the comfort and safety levels of the iZi Plus: not only did it pass the world’s toughest crash test, the Swedish Plus Test, but it also became test winner at “auto, motor und sport” and Folksam (Swedish insurance institute) and won at bäst-i-test.se 4 years in a row.
Upgraded features for extra safety and even more comfort
This year, BeSafe has added two new features to the seat and launched the iZi Plus X1 as an upgraded version of the rear facing champion.
The iZi Plus X1 is equipped with a new and improved version of the additional side impact protection (SIP+), which is an additional safety feature that’s placed on the side of the child car seat that’s facing the door. By reducing the distance between the seat and the door – thus shortening the movement in a side impact – and acting like a car’s crumble zone, this smart safety feature absorbs up to an additional 20% of the forces in the event of a side impact.
The newest generation of BeSafe’s body hugger provides stability and support especially for smaller children thanks to smart foam placements and a snug fit. Three built in recline positions can be adjusted after installation and offer flexibility. Combined with a high sitting position in the car, which offers children a great view, these features make journeys extra comfortable and more entertaining.
Extra longevity to feature rear facing safety for the smallest to the tallest toddler
As this seat is installed with the 3-point vehicle belt, it is approved for children up to 25 kg. This allows children to travel rear facing up to an age of approx. 5 years. A handful of functions and features, like the body hugger, it’s partially hovering installation method, adjustable leg space and an adjustable headrest, have been implemented to allow the seat to grow with the child from small to tall toddler and to deliver great comfort at safety at any time.
